Trends in 2023

The 3 leadership trends for 2023

Every year-end is the time when we discover the trends in Leadership. I have skimmed through them to give you a summary.

Some of these trends are not new and continue to evolve, others are on the horizon. And in the coming year, more will certainly be added.

Without further ado, here are the 3️⃣ Leadership Trends for 2023 that every Manager should know about:

1️⃣ 𝐋'𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞́𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫 will become even more important as it takes on a central role in bringing about a positive collective feeling among all the members that make up a company.
In addition, the growing shortage of skilled labor as well as the impending arrival in force of generation Z will mean that organizations will need to adapt their cultures to be more attractive to these new generations.

2️⃣ Giving employees the missing freedom and flexibility is an integral part of the 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 that all companies discuss. It also challenges our usual way of organizing work.

3️⃣ Becoming a manager will no longer be simply about ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day work; our managers will now be expected to be able to instill 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 in their employees; 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦́𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦; 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘭'𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯; 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘦 etc.

Each year, Gartner conducts a study to identify the top 5 priorities and trends in Human Resources. For 2023, the #1 priority is management effectiveness

To be a "good manager" and to help them 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐥'𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐮 𝐜œ𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞́𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, it is important to develop the following 3️⃣ soft skills:

✅ authenticity: acting thoughtfully and allowing teams to express themselves freely
✅ empathy: showing compassion and respect towards employees, and being concerned about
their well-being
✅ adaptability: offering flexibility and personalized coaching to adapt to individual needs.

These characteristics have been among the essential qualities of great leaders for some time - but they were considered "nice to have." 𝘈𝘶𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘥'𝘩𝘶𝘪, 𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦́𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵.

HR's goal in 2023: to adopt a new skills development strategy that values freedom of speech more, and better adapts to teams' needs and work styles.

This objective does not only concern HR, in my opinion, but the whole company 💫

And you, what are your priorities in 2023❓

As a business coach, it is important for me to help you create people-centred leadership. I hope this information will help you navigate through these uncertain times and prepare for the coming months.
